The problem we tackled
Domestic airlines across Bangladesh were losing mobile passengers because booking felt clunky, prices weren’t transparent, and digital boarding passes often failed at the gate. We began by mapping the traveler journey—from searching a route to scanning a pass—and pinpointed three friction points: confusing trip-type selection, hidden fees, and low-contrast boarding passes that scanners struggled to read.
What we built and how
We designed SkyEase, an iOS app with a clean lilac-blue palette that calms anxious travelers. Key screens include:
- Trip planner with a binary “Round Trip / One Way” toggle and auto-complete city fields.
- Fare breakdown that shows total in Bangladeshi taka upfront.
- Wallet-ready boarding pass that flips dark text onto a high-contrast white card with a bold barcode.
Built in Figma, each component follows Apple’s Human Interface Guidelines. We prototyped the barcode using Code-128 specs and tested on retail scanners to guarantee first-scan success. SwiftUI’s state management handles trip-type toggling and dynamic fare updates in real time.
Results that matter
A three-week beta with 120 volunteer travelers delivered clear wins: booking time dropped from 2:10 to 1:05 minutes (-50%), 92% of testers preferred the new fare screen over the airline’s current app, and barcode mis-scans at the gate fell to zero from five incidents in the previous month. The airline has since green-lit full development, projecting a 15% lift in mobile ticket sales next quarter.
